Kids love to show how much they care and get creative for mothers day.
Have a go at this easy to do Water Lilly activity, then send us your photos, and we will send you a little gift!
You will need:
- 6 large paper leaf shapes in one colour.
- 6 small paper leaf shapes in another colour.
- yellow rectangular paper to make a tube shape.
- some green tissue paper (optional)
- green card cut in the shape of a Lilly pad for the base.
- glue stick and/or sticky pads
- some jelly heart sweets or a battery operated candle
Firstly take the yellow paper and roll it into a tube shape, wide enough for a battery candle to slot in the middle.
Wrap some green tissue paper loosely around the yellow tube (optional). Now cut a few slits at the bottom of the tube so you can glue it easily to the middle of the green lilly pad base.
Cut a small slit at the base of each of the smaller leaves to create a 3D shape and glue all 6 of them around the yellow tube. (We used sticky pads in the picture below and it was quicker than glue).
Take the larger leaves and repeat the same process, placing them around the smaller leaves.
Now you can add some jelly sweets to the middle of the flower or place a battery candle and it’s ready to give to mum.
You can add more details by making a simple dragonfly and placing it on the lilly pad.
You will need:
- 2 wing shapes cut out of felt
- 1 Pipe cleaner
- 4 small beads
- Some glittery gems
Place the two wing shapes on top of each other and tie the pipe cleaner in the middle and twist it to secure it in place.
Make sure you leave a long dragonfly tail and two short antennas.
Add some beads and some sparkly gems.
We hope you have fun with this activity – send us pictures of your Water Lilly on our facebook or twitter pages @mygeckobox or you can email us info@mygeckobox.com and we will send you a little gift!
